In the mid-1980s, when the pioneers of snowboarding first glided across the pistes, they did so here, in the quaint Swiss mountain village of Flims Laax. Fast-forward 40 years and this freestyle capital of Europe is home to the world’s largest halfpipe and Europe’s largest snow park. Needless to say, it’s a paradise for outdoor and adventure lovers.
Summers are spent swimming in one of the many pristine turquoise lakes, having fun in the freestyle parks, hiking among UNESCO world heritage sites or taking a train along the Rhine River, otherwise known as Switzerland’s “Grand Canyon”.
